I added the History Behind the script which everyone can see on the Memory marketing page !
Although this script was given to me as a gift by my mother Yvonne De Carlo many years ago,it remained in the family den- library alongside books signed to Yvonne by Aurther C Clark and many other famous friends .
The date of 1955-on the leather book mark of the script indicates that this script was a black leather bound copy ready for production use upon presentaion of the script to Miss De Carlo during commencment of actual production. IT IS NOT A COMMEMORATIVE ARTICAL.
The following is excerpt from Saphire in the sand copyright bruce r morgan 2007
"Her notes within the script especially on page 160 ,are a reflection on her hours of rehersal work which she did with george George Shadanoff (formerly of the Chekhov Theatre, in partnership with Michael Chekhov),
It should be remembered that in Los Angeles Michael Chekohov coached Marylin Monroe and Gary Cooper .Shadanoff's wife Elsa Shriver was the life- long coach of Gregory Peck.
My mother told me that of all the scenes , one simple moment in the script was the object of much preparation in which she, as Sephora (the wife of Moses ) was watching as Moses came down from Mt Sanai with the tablets .
She learned to put a certain quality to her voice as she spoke "He has seen God "

Yvonne De Carlo's role and activity during" Ten Commandments"
She was in fact paid more than what is reported by recent biographers .
Yvonne finished her role in the movie and all her work (according to her ) was completed on the Paramount lot.
      Still -
Yvonne so admired C B Demille and so respected his effort, that she traveled to Egypt to visit C B De Mille during the shoting of the Ten Commandments .
This was the start of many adventures .Details will be covered in great detail in the upcoming biography "Saphire in the Sand "
Yvonne lodged at the famous Minah House Hotel ( now a monument )which is still situated near the Sphinx.
Pictured in our Tribute on her Family Home page is pictures of Yvonne De Carlo in the street near cairo walking and shopping with Charelton Heston and associate producer Henry Wilcoxen .
Henry at one time had so much memorabilia that his doughter was heard to say
"Lets Go on an acheological dig in Dad's gagrage !"

This version of the ten commandments was a very trying one for De Mills and by the time my mother yvonne visited him , he had suffered a heart attack .

My mother gave me the scipt in the 1970's as a gift upon completing my first script .

My mother Yvonne and Wilcoxen told me many more storys of De Mille and the Ten Commandments

And the implication is that they are selling her actual house i find this a bit humorous .

    About Yvonne:
I'll never forget the first time I met Yvonne, when she asked me how to get to Los Osos. As I was giving her the directions she stopped me quite abruptly stating, "Oh forget it, that's out of the question." I paused, feeling a little more than just curious, and pressed on, "what do you mean?" Yvonne looked over at Jeffrey and I assumed he already knew the story by the look of agreement on his face.

Yvonne explained that she, "just could not go up that way." Silence. I watched her, she watched me back...

    "Go up what way?"
"Oh, you know, (she's gesturing with her hands - subtlety) that part of the county."
"You can't go to that part of the county?"
Almost before I finished my sentence, "Not since, well... that little incident with the Highway Patrolman."

OK, now you have to realize that this is the first time I am being introduced to YVONNE DE CARLO - and I am generally a pretty shy person... I kind of keep to myself. By now I am thinking, 'Oh My God, what have I gotten myself into? - I have no idea what this lady is talking about and I am starting to go blank - can't think of a thing to say!'

Just as I started to take a breath to begin to speak again, I noticed just the slightest hint of a smile on Yvonne's face, and that incredible flash and glimmer in her gorgeous eyes, and then heard Jeffrey laughing from the other side of me saying, "Oh Yvonne, you are so full of it!" Then looking at me he said, "You've been had by the best - she got you good."

The three of us had a great laugh.

That was my introduction to the feisty, witty, curious, wise, kick-in-the-pants, wonderful, incredible, graceful, gracious, enigmatic, legendary, iconoclastic, down-to-earth, Yvonne!

The following You Tube Video shows Yvonne performing “I’m Still Here” at the Hollywood Bowl. This piece was written exclusively for Yvonne, by Steven Sondheim, and performed by Yvonne and others in the Broadway hit, “Follies. Enjoy.

Many remember Yvonne as Lily Munster from the TV sit-com – “The Munsters”. Her role as Lily Munster was brilliant and endearing – still broadcast in numerous countries and languages all over the world. Yvonne's career spanned six plus decades! There is so much more to be celebrated about this remarkable Iconoclast - most certainly 'a legend in her own time' and still here now.

Cheers to you, Dear Yvonne! We celebrate you and the indelible and unforgettable legacy you have left with us. And we, celebrate you, the person – ever the prankster, true and dear friend, one hell of a feisty broad! We love you, we miss you, Shine On!

I believe this rare footage shows one of MANY aspects of Yvonne's vast versatility, talent, and brilliance. I think it also helps her younger fans get a glimpse of what Yvonne, the Actor; Performer; brought to her delightful portrayal of her TV persona “Lily Munster” and why “The Munsters” was such a smashing success – then, and NOW through re-runs here in the US and in numerous countries and languages across the globe.

Yvonne was very complex and driven by a strong desire to WORK and to follow her PASSION. Her incredible talent; impeccable comedic and theatrical timing; daunting perseverance; and fearless ability and willingness to accept and embrace change, gave us, her public, the opportunity to enjoy the genius of this incredible Iconoclastic woman: Yvonne DeCarlo!

      Yes Yvonne, You’re Still Here!

THE CONTENTS OF THIS ARTICAL OR COPYWRITTEN BY" TOM "2007

    Bruce,
As I'm sure you know, Paramount never knew what to
do with your mother. She was window dressing in a
dozen movies. Walter Wanger at Universal was in the
midst of a well publicized effort to find "the most
beautiful girl in the world" for "Salome." I have a
photo of a downtown elevator girl in a Salome
costume that Universal claimed had tried out as
"most beautiful." Wanger of course, hired your mom
for Salome. The first thing he did was send her
over to Ray Jones. He was the head of the stills
department at Universal and their chief portrait
photographer. Such a big deal had been made out of
the search for the most beautiful girl that once she
was hired, Universal was determined to show her off
    to the movie loving world.
An extraordinary number of photos were taken of
your mother. In elegant gowns with her hair up, in
bathing suits with her hair down, in liesure
clothes, and in costume for Salome. It is a famous
series in Hollywood portrait history. She was
largely unknown but was officially the most
beautiful girl in the world, due to the long-lasting
campaign that had been promoted in movie mags and
newspapers. Salome did well financially and she went
into "Frontier Gal" which Maria Montez had refused.
Maria had been the reigning exotic at Universal.
She ran around for four years in sarongs and Arab
outfits and like Dorothy Lamour before her and
eventually your mother after her, got sick of it and
wanted to be a real actress. Your mother took
Maria's place as the Universal exotic. God bless
Maria, she looked great but could not act, sing or
dance and had a huge Spanish accent. Your mother
looked equally great and non-Waspish, could act, had
been a professional singer and dancer, and once she
got the pronunciation of "about" worked out sounded
like a native Angeleno. All this called for
portraits. When your mother crossed over into film
noir roles, it called for more photos to show she
could look credible in modern roles.
So Ray Jones played a critical role in her career.
The movies were just a part of it. The star making
machinery plastered the world with portraits to
promote the stars and to make fans aware of any new
    > > path the star's career might take. I have 20 or so
    > > pics from that initial photo campaign as well as
several from her later career with Universal -
especially from "Criss Cross" which proved her ability to play modern roles.
Best of luck with your book. Your mothercertainly had an interesting career. She is such a perfect example

I really love the site you have created. It's beautiful. Since I was a little kid, Yvonne has been a big role model of mine. Her passing was a sad time for myself as well as many others. I wish you the best of luck in keeping her image and memory alive. I've included a little poem that I wrote for her on her birthday in 2007; it's called "September Rain"...

Clouds of grey slow dance in the pale September sky-
a barricade of darkness that derails your angel light.
Dejected voices whisper words that echo through the night.
Faded red of moon's eclipse bears blood of years gone by.

Twinkle stars shine bright now with sparkle of your eyes.
The ocean trench runs deeper than regret of faithless lies.
Pretty smiles cover up the pain you've tried to hide.
Empty thoughts of memories behind each tear you cried.

That's as far as I ever got. It's not amazing, but hey, it was in honor of her memory. I hope you enjoyed it!!!

    Best of luck!

.Bruce, Thanks for making such a wonderful site. Your mom would be very proud of you. I know this may sound kind of funny talking about someone’s mom but...Your mom was amazingly beautiful. I would call her "Breathless". She was someone that just took your breath away when you saw her. From most of the reading I've done on her she was somewhat of a pistol. She never got her just due from Hollywood. She had more talent then most of the woman in her era and she had more talent then almost all of the woman in this era. I would have loved to have met her. I think she would have been someone that you could sit down with and have a lot of laughs. She would have been a hoot. I try and stop by her grave at find a grave and leave her flowers now and again to let her know she is not forgotten. She just seems like she was a cool lady even at 84yrs young. Thanks for helping to keep her star shinning bright. I borrowed this from someone else but I think it sums up what I and others think about her.

First let me say there are some great agents .
So let this story reflect what can happen when the wrong agent is licensed by the state of California to have a "CLIENT TRUST ACCOUNT"
In 2006 in February Yvonne was paid by a new york webisode firm and the money was recieved by the "Agent"in February2006.Payable and recieveable
This agent proceeded to tell me the power of attorney that the money had not yet arrived .
He told storys some 50 times of alleged delays .
Finally a Note to All Clients of AGENTS
KNOW THE PAYER AND HAVE THE RIGHT AND ACESS OF CONTACT OVER TIMELY PAYMENTS AND ANY SEPERATED COMISSION PAYMENTS THAT HAVE BEEN NEGOTIATED
Here is my letter to Yvonnes payer which the agent told me was BEST FOODS -North America -Wrong!!
I did some research and contacted them through a consumer site .

    =====================================================
    my letter
    Hello MR AGENT
I left a message on your voice mail .
The data from Unilever reveals that there was in fact
    an agreemment .
Uniliver executives are sending that info on Monday .
This of course is very different than what you
related to be today Friday when we spoke .

I politely assume that you have so much work that a
fact can be forgotten or confused .

However when the chain of events has so many variances
between your reporting and results of my research
into the commerce regarding her)Yvonne De Carlos
likness rights the results is clear .
I have lost my confidence in the situation of doing
    business with you .
    1) Please stop representing Yvonne De Carlo's image
rights at this time June 9th 2006,I request it in her
name she has been advised i am her son and power of
    attorney Bruce R Morgan .

    2) Please consult both your memory and your files to
see if any other business was accomplished with regard
    to her image rights :
    -agreement oral and written
    -releases
-payments you recieved but might have forgotten to
    report to me .
-the dates when money was recieved in your office
concerning Yvonnes compensation is also helpfull.

    3) I give a reasonable timeline of five days during
which time i will be doing my research into some
    matter concerning TV LAND, SAG

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The response was the agent eventually paid on what was known
Several other agents have since told me that this agent will keep what ever you can not find so -
I have launched a search for other memory lapses that this agent may have suffered in keeping my mothers income.
I called SAG and talked to the main attorney
He told me if you have the documentation as to when he received the money and when he paid it then we can fine him.
I guess that means sag makes some money and records some issue about his agent practice.
There are links to web page articles about agents who forget that people are alive.
I guess sometimes memory loss can be lucrative.

I found this site with Yevonne and Sir Alec Guinness dancing the mamba. There are some pictures of her and Alec I have never seen before. I hope you and others enjoy it.

    Bruce,

What a wonderful tribute to your Mother's legacy! I grew up watching re-runs of 'The Munsters' and was always intrigued by Yvonne's beauty ... even as "Lilly" (Lilly was the beauty, not Marilyn .. ha ha). Yvonne DeCarlo was absolutely one of the MOST beautiful women I've ever seen, if not THE most beautiful! This legendary lady of screen and TV will live on in the hearts of millions - forever!

P.S. whatever happened to the sweet lady who was president of Yvonne's fan club and was featured with you on the A&E bio?
